A Non Medical Service

What is Respite Care?

Taking care of an older or ill family member can be rewarding — but it can be physically and emotionally draining as well.  It is important for caregivers to seek respite services from their care responsibilities so you have time to recharge and take some time for yourself. Whether it’s for a few hours a week to run errands or a few weeks a year to take a much-needed vacation, Intermission Respite Care offers you the chance to reduce stress, restore energy and keep your life  balanced.

What is Caregiver Burnout?

Caregiver burnout is a state of physical, emotional, and mental exhaustion that may be accompanied by a change in attitude -- from positive and caring to negative and unconcerned. Burnout can occur when caregivers don't get the help they need, or if they try to do more than they are able -- either physically or financially. Many caregivers also feel guilty if they spend time on themselves rather than on their ill or elderly loved ones. Caregivers who are "burned out" may experience fatigue, stress, anxiety, and depression.
